I Have a Bluebird On My Shoulder

I have been sick with the flu this week and have missed seeing my grandchildren but one of their toys just called out to me to be painted.  This is a little bear with a bluebird on his shoulder that I found at one of the many hospital gift shops I have visited around the country and the bear actually moves and sings the song with the bird chirping along.  Maybe it is magical thinking to think that something just wants to be painted, maybe this painting is for someone in particular, I am not sure but I believe in that Spirit and believe these fellows have a little bit of magic inside them.

Hangin' On - SOLD

This little bluebird is perched on the side of a tree.  He looks like he is trying to decide what his next move will be.  Aren't we all?

Thanks to Janett Ellington Horton for the lovely reference photo.

I'm Back - SOLD

I painted outside today.  The birds are back and my favorite are the hummingbirds and they told me this week to fill up their feeder.  This is a Eastern Bluebird.  The reference photo was provided by
Marcus Moller.  This is an original oil on a linen panel 8" x 10".

Blue Bird - SOLD

It is so frustrating to try and get the colors just right on the computer monitor. Three people have recently told me that their paintings were more beautiful "in person" when they received them.  I think the vivid color of oils are hard to capture online as hard as I try.  Anyway.....I hope you find Bluebird a piece that you like.
