Recently one of my friends asked me to paint something for him. It is one of the four Eagles that reside on Denny Chimes, a 115-foot tall campanile tower on the south side
of The Quad at the University of Alabama, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The eagles are Art Deco in design and represent
strength in the university as well as the guardians of the Chimes. For me personally, I find realistic painting tedious and boring. Over the years I have worked hard to paint in a "painterly" manner, more impressionistic and that is actually a greater challenge. Therefore, when Larry asked for this I was quite hesitant. However, I lost myself in this painting and really like the way it turned out. I appreciate his good idea. |
