Chalk Art - SOLD

This darling little girl has chalk in her little chubby hands and she is ready to create.  I tried to give the impression of some of her art on the floor.  I love little girls especially with big hats, bubble suits and hot pink shoes.  She makes my heart smile.

Little Lily - SOLD

Recently I painted a little boy on the beach that reminded someone of her little boy when he was that age.  She wanted a painting of her little girl around the same age and this is Lily.  These are on small canvas boards (5" x 7") that are linen and Museum quality made by Raymar.  I love these surfaces but painting on such a small canvas is a real challenge.  However,  for me it enhances my particular impressionistic style because I have no room for little details.

Gilbert - SOLD

There is a verse in the Bible that states, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."  I certainly find hope in that verse and pray that in some small way my painting could be a part of that comfort.  Gilbert loved Thomas the Train and in the reference photo for this painting he has eyes that are full of life and "little boy" mischief.  I do not think there is any grief equivalent to that of a little person leaving this life too soon.

While painting this, I found myself asking Gilbert, "Help me little buddy.  Help me paint your picture."

I Own This- SOLD

Last summer I caught this little guy really strolling on the beach way out ahead of his parents.  He walked with such confidence and attitude as if to say "I Own This!"  I loved his little curls and the way he strutted in that suit.  This is a small 5" x 7" painting I was using as a color study for a larger painting and someone contacted me to ask if they could purchase as this looks just like her son did several years ago at that age.  I love it when that happens!

Summertime

I love fresh flowers but there was a time when I hated to paint flowers because I had a tendency to try and paint them too exact or I would compare my style of painting to someone else and I would feel that I came up short.  But today I read a quote by Dreama Tolle Perry and it really struck a chord in my heart.

"It has helped me to realize that my art is not about "wowing" someone else with my skills.
It is about bringing some smiles, some truth, some happy to this life while I am here."

Little Gardener - SOLD

Nothing is more precious than having a little person you love want to walk beside you and "help".  Those times spent with a grandchild who watches your every move and then repeats it somehow gives you hope that you have passed on a lesson or made a memory.  Recently I taught my little 6 year old how to paint "the Joker".  The Joker is one of his favorite bad characters in Batman.  I was not sure he was even listening but I found out he was - the next day he painted his twin brother's face to be the Joker and assured him he knew what he was doing because he had practiced.   I think this little guy in the painting will remember his great grandmother's gardening instructions every time he gardens in the future.
